Welcome to the (_____________________________) Group of Cocaine Anonymous.
My name is (________________) and I am an addict. Are there any other addicts present?
Is anyone here for their first CA meeting? Anyone visiting from another CA group or City?
Let’s open this meeting with a moment of silence followed by the Serenity Prayer.
Cocaine Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from their addiction. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. There are no dues or fees for membership; we are fully self-supporting through our own contributions. We are not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution. We do not wish to engage in any controversy and we neither endorse nor oppose any causes. Our Primary purpose is to stay free from cocaine and all other mind-altering substances, and to help others achieve the same freedom.
We use the twelve steps of recovery because it has already been proven that the twelve-step recovery program works. It is a custom in Cocaine Anonymous to read either a portion of chapter 5 from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous entitled “How it works” or “We can Recover” taken from the CA Story book.
Tonight, I have asked (______________) to read “How it Works” or “We can Recover”
The Twelve Traditions are to the group what the Twelve Steps are to the individual.
Tonight, I have asked (______________) to read the Twelve Traditions.
Tonight, I have asked (______________) to read “Who is a Cocaine Addict”
This is a one-hour participation meeting. We encourage newcomers to ask any questions they may have regarding the program and recovery. If you have had any drugs or alcohol in the last 24-hours, please refrain from sharing until we call for burning desires. Kindly limit your sharing to 3-5 minutes so everyone who wishes to may share.
Before we start, I would like to acknowledge the five suggestions we use on a daily basis to help us stay sober. (1) Don’t use (no matter What)! (2) Get a sponsor. (3) Read the Big Book. (4) Pray (to a Higher Power of your understanding). (5) 90 meetings in 90 days.
This is a (topic/discussion) meeting. Tonight’s topic is (____________). We ask that if you are called on to share, please stay on the topic and in the solution.
Let’s go around the room and introduce ourselves staring on my left.
(about 15 minutes before the end of the meeting)
Now it is time for “burning desires”. Does anyone have a problem staying sober and need to talk about it? (If no one needs to share, please call on someone to share on the topic or recovery)
If you are having a problem and do not feel comfortable sharing in front of the group, please get with someone after the meeting. Please don’t leave without talking to someone.
Our time is up… If you have any questions that went unanswered or you feel the need to share, please introduce yourself to someone after the meeting and exchange phone numbers.
At this time, I would like to as those of you who are able to sponsor people to please raise your hands.
I would like to close tonight by having (________________) read (________________)
(9th step promises, 10th step promises, 12th step promises, A Vision for you, or Reaching Out).
